A year ago, if someone had said that we would be running our own business selling ice cream, we would never have believed them....

A husband and wife team, we are both ex teachers who have worked in North East secondary schools for 28 years. We both have both had happy and successful careers, as teachers and senior leaders, and thoroughly enjoyed working with the many young people who we have had the privilge to get to know over the years.

In September 2020, we both retired from teaching, but after a year of lockdown, decided that we wanted to get out and do something. We have both been busy people all our lives and love meeting new people.

Following the cancellation of our foreign holiday in the summer of 2021, we enjoyed a 'staycation' with friends in Chester. One afternoon, our friend Jim took us on a tour of his unit where he runs a business building coffee and ice cream tricycles. Having always had an enthusiastic interest in good food and hospiatilty, we were so impressed with his coffee and ice cream carts and trikes, that we decided to buy one and set up our own small business. The Jesmond Ice Cream Company was born...

We have one teenage daughter who is managing our social media and marketing for us. She will also be serving ice cream when her sixth form studies, passion for performing arts and busy social life allow!

Very proud to live in Newcastle, we are delighted to have the opportunity to bring a new service to our local and wider communities, and to contribute to the growing movement to provide local, natural and delcious food.
